Houpací koně is a rock music band, originally from Ústí nad Labem, performing since 1991. Or in their own words: "Compared to the history of space, we have been playing for just a short while now, but we don't talk about it much, it's not that important anyway. During all these years, band members changed a few times, but since 2015, we have been travelling across Czech, Moravian, Slovakian and Berlin gas stations as this group - Pavel Nepivoda, Martin Palaščák, Honza Strnad and Jirka Imlauf. Nevertheless, there are even more people who we consider part of our band - Petr Kuneš, Honza Brambůrek and Lukáš Franz. Without them, we would probably still be playing at a local gas station near Ústí, in Zdiby or not far from Oslavička village halfway from Velké Meziříčí and Třebíč. We come from Ústí nad Laben, Monte Carlo of the poor, a city that is colourful just for few weeks in autumn and otherwise looks just like in black and white photos. And that's exactly what we like about it. In the air, you can smell Setuza and the land of hills, canteens and railways. About all of this, we have actually recorded an upcoming album called Desolation Peak, which is dedicated to Jack Kerouac. You know, notebooks full of scribbles, the first idea = the best idea, flickering lanterns and so on."

Thanks to that song the band received an award Žebřík for The discovery of the year 2018 and a victory in the hit-parade of radio station Europe 2 where it stayed on the top for a record 7 weeks. Its second single “I Need A Woman” also reached the first three places on the hit-parade. Jana Plavec: JÁ, UPRCHLÍK
The exhibition of photographer Jana Plavec is focused on a picture of a refugee not just as an abstract idea from media but on specific people and their lives influenced by being a refugee. The pictures were taken during missions of volunteers to areas where the situation was the worst and the help was the most needed in past few years - it was on Croatian-Serbian border crossing Berkasovo, in Greek island Lesbos and in Indomeni, the camp on Greek-Macedonian border. Even though the topic is slowly disappearing from titles of daily news, the problem of refugees still remains heartbreaking. Jana Plavec dedicates her creations to the topics of minorities and socially disadvantaged while trying to capture their everyday lives.

Summer, car traffic, trucks on highways and families coming together, all travelling within free custom borders of the European Union. But what if it's all just an illusion? What if the human "cargo" appears?
A short film by a young half Swedish, half Hungarian director Ottó Bánovits called Camera Obscura (Dark Chamber) is a bit political and radical, but somehow small-scale as well. It is based on a true story that happened in the summer of 2015 near Austrian-Hungarian borders. RefuFest will present this film together with another film - Cizí hlasy (Idegen hangok) by Hungarian director Balázs Wizner, which takes a look at the mix of emotions, reactions and stereotypes that surround the topic of migration. FRIDAYS FOR FUTURE: OPEN DEBATE

15th March Czech high school students joined Greta Thunberg and thousands of other students all over the world. Since then they protested in the streets four times, asking for changes in the approach to climate crisis and the next student protest for the climate is being planned for the 20th September.
Come to ask the representatives of Fridays For Future, what made them get up from their school desks, how they perceive climate change or how is it for them to organize a protest as high school students.
Fridays For Future is a student initiative, who criticize the inaction of politicians in their approach to climate change. They refer to the Intergovernmental panel for climate change at the UN from last year. It follows from their report that we have just 12 years left to do the necessary measures to avert an ecological collapse. By the end of February, Czech high school students made a declaration on the website of their initiative. During first few weeks more than 4000 students supported it with their signatures. Since last year´s autumn student protests take places all over the world. Czech high school students protested the first time 15th March, when similar protests happened in more than 60 other countries around the world.
